Trio Program I: Dvořák
Dvořák Piano Trio in F minor, Op. 65
Our first virtual spring concert features gorgeous romantic piano trios written by Mendelssohn and Dvorák. Cellist Alice Yoo makes her OMF debut.
Antonín Dvorák is best known for his “New World” Symphony, but his Piano Trio in F minor is considered a monumental treasure of the trio literature. Composing the piece only weeks after his mother’s death, Dvorák delivers extraordinary inspiration throughout, with brooding Bohemian melodies and a slow movement considered one of the most emotional statements in chamber music.
Trios Program Part II: Mendelssohn
Mendelssohn Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49
Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in D minor is an iconic work of classical music, with familiar melodies and virtuosic lightness that demonstrate the composer’s Mozart-like genius.

PIANO TRIO
Schoenfield Café Music (1st Movement)
Our second virtual spring concert is a collection of exciting, soulful encores written for violin and cello. Selections are either individually partnered with the piano or performed as a full piano trio.
Enjoy the humor of Kreisler’s Tambourin Chinois, which captures the bustle of San Francisco’s Chinatown, and the elegant and overwhelming beauty of Saint-Saëns’s The Swan.
To close the collection of short pieces, the three artists perform a movement of Schoenfield’s Cafe Music—evoking the sounds of smoky, sultry jazz night clubs.
Meet the Artists
Keep the Music Alive
Olympic Chamber Music Fellowship
The Olympic Chamber Music Fellowship brings exceptional young artists from around the world to collaborate with world class mentoring artists. The program serves as a critical transition from student life to the challenges of a professional career in chamber music.
The Fellowship is a full scholarship program made possible by the generosity of donors like yourself who are committed to the OMF’s educational presence on the international stage.
Free Annual Children’s Concert
Music for Children and their Families is a lively mixture of storytelling and songs, engaging each child in the wonder of music making. Children are invited onto the stage after the performance for an “instrument petting zoo,” where they have an opportunity to explore a range of musical instruments presented during the concert. The OMF Children’s Concert is sponsored in part by Crossroads Music, the Port Townsend Arts Commission, Bischofberger Violins, and generous donors like you!
Post Concert Q&As
Postconcert question & answer sessions with the artists have become a highlight of the OMF summer series. Audience members are invited to stay after the concert to learn about the music they just heard while exploring the behind the scenes process of how each concert comes together. The OMF is committed to nurturing curiosity about the vast world of classical chamber music, and enhancing the concert experience for our audiences.
